Shepherd's pie

  • 3 pounds ground beef

  • 2 T sugar

  • Large can of tomato soup or 2 regular sized

  • 1 small onion, chopped finely

  • 3 large to medium carrots, chopped and steamed

  • 1 bag of frozen peas, preferably Birds Eye sweet baby peas

  • 3 pounds of potatoes, prepared your way for mashed potatoes

  • Shredded cheese to taste, preferably cheddar.

  1. Set oven to 350.

  2. Brown the ground beef and onion, drain.

  3. Put meat back in , and add tomato soup and sugar.

  4. Meanwhile, steam the carrots.

  5. Make mashed potatoes to your liking. You may begin this step as beef and carrots are being prepared.

  6. In a large backing dish, layer the beef, carrots, peas (still frozen), and top with mashed potatoes.

  7. Top with shredded cheese and bake for 45 minutes until bubbly.
