Easter Hurricane

Easter Hurricane... Potential Category 5

  • 2 oz Dark Rum (Plantation Special Dry Preferred)

  • 2 oz Light Rum (Brucal Xtra Dry - but not as important)

  • 2 oz Pineapple Juice

  • 1 oz Guava Nectar

  • 1 oz Mango Nectar

  • 1/2 Lime Juiced

  • 1 TBS Grenadine

  • Orange Slice for Garnish (optional)

Shake with a little Ice, and serve in an ice filled Hurricane Glass. A tall Highball or Collins glass works as well if no Hurricane glassware is in stock.

This concoction was developed in 2020 on a lazy Easter Sunday. We were reminiscing of New Orleans, and we were craving a Hurricane for the holiday weekend. Our last hurricane consumed was at a place in the south side of Chicago a couple months prior, and it was a delightful one at that. Highly recommend Virtue Restaurant for all things Southern American cuisine.

So we were researching a few recipes, and many of the sites had various ingredients with one thing in common. Plenty of alcohol. So we were at the mercy of juices and ingredients at our local convenience stores and items that were easily available during the beginning of the COVID-19 shelter in place for Chicago.

Next step was to perform a little research on the liquor given our little expertise in the RUM realm. What we landed on was a delightful cocktail that can turn any lockdown into your own personal Mardi Gras. Enjoy.
